Our client is seeking a Programmer Software Developer Level 2 to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering accurate, well-tested software solutions that support identity validation for Canadians.

What's the Job?

• Help migrate the Social Insurance Number (SIN) registry database and applications off the mainframe into a new cloud-based solution by June 2027 as part of the SIR Replacement (SIRR) Project.
• Develop and prepare diagrammatic plans, flow charts, and detailed program designs for complex business and technical problems involving large-scale data processing.
• Translate technical designs into coded machine instructions, collaborate with technical personnel, and ensure programs are accurate through sample data preparation and testing.
• Build and maintain solution components using Spring Boot, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, GitHub, Kubernetes (K8s), and OIDC, with support from OpenTelemetry, Terraform, and cryptography.
• Support delivery by producing technical design documentation, version-controlled code, testing artifacts, and deployment/configuration documentation, including release notes and change logs.

What's Needed?

• Experience designing and developing software solutions using Java and Spring Boot, including building reliable services that integrate with identity and data systems.
• Hands-on familiarity with search and indexing technologies such as OpenSearch/Elasticsearch and the ability to work with large, structured datasets.
• Proficiency with GitHub for version control and collaboration, and experience working in containerized environments using Kubernetes (K8s).
• Ability to design, test, debug, and optimize code—creating unit and integration test plans, test cases, and supporting system acceptance testing.
• Strong documentation skills, including producing solution architecture/design specifications, interface/integration documentation, and user/technical reference materials.
